“What you doing on our turf, punk?”

The Education of Sonny Carson was one of the 1st movie about the struggle of being black in the ghetto with issues such as drug abuse, local gang life, poverty, prison life, police discrimination and brutality… basically becoming a man in the hood.

The film is based on the autobiography of Robert “Sonny” Carson (also known as Mwlina Imiri Abubadika), a civil rights activist and father of the Hip Hop artist Professor X, The Overseer (from X Clan).

This movie influenced many rap artists. They all had sampled dialogue and excerpts from the film in their music. The most notable and memorable sampled dialogues from the movie we’re on the album Ironman by Ghostface Killah in 1996, a masterpiece. A must see movie, once in a lifetime for any true rap fans and connaisseur. Enjoy !!!
